I purchased three skeins of yarn on a Tuesday. By Friday I had not received any tracking info. So I called and found out it hadn't shipped yet. Wasn't going to go out for an hour! I asked to cancel. They said ok, but they would charge me a 10% restocking fee! It hadn't even shipped! I would think twice before buying from them if you want the yarn in a timely fashion. And beware of restocking fees. I didn't think anyone did that anymore especially if the yarn was still in the shop.

The product description on the website was not completely clear, and when I received the product I realized I was not going to be able to use it as I originally intended. I honestly thought there had been a mistake in packaging and wanted to let them know. Instead of apologizing, the reply was condescending and told me that the description was in bold and on the top of the page (it was not). I sent a return email pointing out that in fact it was not obvious and perhaps they should change the description - thinking they would want to make future customers happy and that was the end of it. I had not asked to return the product as I intended to keep it anyway (not worth the hassle of shipping it back at my own expense).

Much to my surprise I received yet another response, even ruder than the first doubling down on their statement that the disclaimer in the description was where they said it was (still wasn't), and told me I could return it if it was still in its original condition.
When I replied that I had not asked to return the yarn nor for any compensation I also stated I had not asked to be treated as poorly nor to be argued with I got a still even ruder response. I'm glad this person only answers to her "lord and savior" as she pointed out, but I still have to wonder - What Would Jesus Have Done?

Hi Rebecca,

I just saw your review and wanted to share our first email to you here, in which I apologized and was not in any way "rude" or "condescending." I apologize once again for not being able to make you happy with your purchase and/or for not being able to correspond in a way that would have conveyed that we care.

We were trying to explain and share the product description with you so that you knew we sent the right yarn while trying to find a way to make you happy. This despite the fact that you told us we were telling you less than the truth and saying "... I did not ask to be offended by a Customer Service Representative who finds it necessary to be "right" and argue with a customer rather than be conciliatory either. Should I speak to your supervisor or just write a public review on Social Media?"

I am not sure what we could have done to be further conciliatory than explaining, apologizing and offering to take your yarn back.

When you order from Little Knits you get quality yarn at discount prices. Some may be seconds, or discontinued colors, but the yarn is always top notch. The ordering is easy. There are enough photos of the yarn you are ordering to make your selection very simple. The shipping is fast and your order is ALWAYS packed very well.

Horrible Customer Service at Little Knits
October 29, 2021

Little Knits advertised on their website Hikoo Kenzie yarn on sale 45-60% off with free shipping for purchases totaling $75 or more and free gifts. I made a purchase of $87.58 including 15 skeins of yarn, insurance, and $7.00 shipping. When I called Little Knits to inquire about the shipping charge, Susan told me that I could either get the free shipping or the sale but not both. I, then, read to her what was posted on the website and she still refused to honor what was posted. We agreed to void my order. I suggested she update her website to reflect the true sale. To that, she obliged. The company clearly neglected to reflect the correct sale on their website. They made an error and refused to own it. It's really a shame they were willing to loose a customer over a $7.00 shipping charge. A company that demonstrates stellar customer service and an appreciation for their customers would have honored the posting and made the correction to the website at a later time. Little Knits failed to honor the sale they advertised and it is for this reason I will NEVER do business with them in the future, regardless of how good the sale might seem. The good things is, I can buy yarn from anywhere in the world. However, Little knits will not be on my list of vendors with which to do business. BEWARE! If it seems too good to be true, it probably is not worth it. At least not at Little Knits.

Zee thank you for taking the time and for your feedback. I saw that you clicked in and purchased your yarn in response to our newsletter in which no free shipping was promised. Hundreds of other customers took advantage of this sale with no issues. As I tried to explain in our second phone call, the $75 free shipping was good for when the yarn you purchased was at a higher price point, not at the 45-60% off mark at which you bought it. Our website does mention free shipping specifically at the 30-35% off price point. We cannot do both the deep discount and the free shipping as we do not have the budget to provide free shipping when the yarn is being cleared out at 45-60% off. The $7 shipping charge is less than half of what your actual shipping cost would have been. Our apologies for the misunderstanding and we hope that you will decide to visit us again. Stellar Customer Service

I recently placed an order with Little Knits, and Sue immediately notified me to tell me of a possible problem with the order. To make a long story short, Sue gave me the best customer service I have seen in a long time. We had several emails back and forth, over the weekend, and she was patient and a pleasure to do business with. I have always been impressed with the quality of the yarns Little Knits offers at a price which makes them affordable. The customer service, though, tops an amazing inventory. What an excellent experience.

I have been buying on-line from Little Knits, a small family-owned company for more than ten years. I buy something almost every month. There has never been a mistake on an order. I have never wanted to return anything. I love their prices! Shipping is slower than some other places but the prices more than make up for the delay. They respond quickly to my e-mails and phoned questions. I know that if I see something I better buy it because their products are snatched up quickly. They always describe any fiber hortcomings so no surprises (i. E., if color isn't quite right, or skein is messed up).

I have been buying on-line from Little Knits for years. It's an adventure - sometimes they don't have what you want, or they don't have enough. But when you find what you want, it's at an awesome price and you can get some super deals. I've also been lucky in buying something on sale from someplace else and when I find that I need an extra skein or two, and I can't get it from the original source, I've had luck finding it sometimes at Little Knits. I had an issue with a recent order and Sue went out of her way to get it resolved for me- even calling the mill to try and get a color that I wanted.

Awesome colors

I just found this wonderful online shop. I usually shop at my LYS, but during this period of isolation am unable to do so. I ordered a wide variety of different yarns and was not disappointed. I shopped their sale and got great bargains for both knitting and weaving, but their normal prices on high quality yarn are great too. The personal customer service was outstanding! I will definitely be ordering again. My shipping costs were even adjusted in my favor as I had ordered three separate times.

Ordered some yarn on Saturday.
Wanted to take it with me on a road trip of several months and found we were leaving sooner than anticipated.
Called to see if I could arrange for some special handling and pay extra for quicker delivery to the Midwest.
Very pleased with your cheerful assistance, checking on the order and assuring it would be here on time.
It's Friday. It arrived this afternoon.
I love the yarn and so appreciate your assistance and not gouging a semi-desperate customer with extra fees.
Now I'm off in a rush to get everything packed for adventure and knitting!
Midwest to Southwest to Alaska.
Hopefully, I'll get my projects done while I'm gone.

It's rare that you run into customer service this poor. Sue is an absolutely awful, rude, and nasty beast. Horrible problems with shipping, a terrible attitude, and piss poor communication. I can definitely see why I'd never heard of this place. It's unfortunate that businesses like this exist, but judging by the weird penny-pinching mentality and whining about lost money, they may not much longer.

Since I have learned to knit about 4 years ago Little Knits is one of my on line go to stores. They have a huge selection of yarns and patterns. Anytime I have contacted customer service they have never failed to help me. There are no physical "yarn stores" in my area so being able to get wonderful yarns on line here keeps me knitting.

I ordered yarn and was told the cost of shipping was $10.40 for Priority Mail. The package arrived in a USPS Priority Mail Padded Flat Rate envelope. Per USPS, the cost of mailing this item was $8.00. When I questioned why I was charged $2.40 more, I was told it was for insurance. Well USPS includes $50 for insurance in their base rate and I specifically opted for NO additional insurance. So, when I further questioned this and called to speak to someone, I was screamed at by someone who claimed to be an owner. She said I swore at her - I didn't and my husband was in the room when I called, he heard the call and I did not swear. She was screaming from the time she picked up the phone. I very calmly asked her to explain. She continued to scream. It's a shame that a customer who has literally done over $1000 in business with this company would be treated this way. So - beware of upcharging on shipping, the hidden insurance costs, and the worst possible customer treatment.

As you already know, we make absolutely no profit from shipment and the extra insurance is purchased from Stamps not from USPS. This is done to make up for the fact that USPS often refuses to honor their auto insurance so we purchase additional coverage when we are able. The amount you were charged for shipping was the exact amount you agreed to pay for shipping when you placed your order online (we have no way of charging you extra once an order is placed). We wanted to make you happy accordingly, we did give you a $2.40 refund as per your request. We hope you are well and enjoying your yarn.

Be warned. They sold me this stain damaged yarn in the photos. When I emailed them they refused to acknowledge this. I will have to go through paypal and credit card dispute to be reimbursed for awful product that is useless.

Smoking deals on high quality yarn. I have never had a problem getting what I ordered unless I didn't check out quickly enough :) Only caveat is their colors on the website aren't always accurate, I double check them at yarndex.com before buying. Get on their mailing list and get ready to knit!
