Rate increase of 53% in less than a year. I explicitly asked if I had an "introductory" rate when moving in. I was told "no, I was getting normal rate". Then 2 rate increases in 9 months... up 53%. When I called office to express the concern, I was hung up on. After "Steve" said normal increases after 3 and 9 months. SO, THIS IS THEIR NORMAL POLICY! >>SUCK EM IN AND INCREASE AFTER INCREASE. Poor company policy. I will be moving out very shortly!

ZERO STARS – Deceptive Practices, Disrespectful Staff, and Surveillance-Level Behavior My experience at the Extra Space Storage – San Pablo (Moraga Road) location has been one of the most unprofessional and disturbing customer service interactions I've ever encountered. Let's begin with the facts: My unit started at $228/month. Within less than a year, it was raised to nearly $500—with no improvements to service or explanation beyond corporate rate excuses. This is more than a 100% increase in under 12 months. When I voiced concerns about the pricing and mentioned I may move out, an employee literally said "bye" and hung up on me. That alone should disqualify someone from working in customer service. Shortly after filing formal complaints (including with the BBB), I noticed a Facebook post mocking me—publicly visible and posted within hours of my complaint. The employee who responded to my original email inquiry used a name and email that matched the Facebook account, making it clear that the person monitoring my complaints is also watching my social media. This employee, Deva Shalece Harris, also happens to be the only person with that name on my friend list—despite never identifying herself during our storage-related communication. That means not only was I mocked, but I was digitally watched and then publicly ridiculed, by a staff member with access to my account. I've since escalated this to the district manager, Linz Askham, with screenshots and formal documentation. As of now, I've received polite emails but no accountability, no apology, and no real resolution. I now have serious concerns about privacy, data misuse, and professionalism at this facility. If you are a customer here, or considering storing your belongings, please ask yourself: What does it say when the staff can stalk your social media and then mock you for filing a legitimate complaint? This is not about bad vibes—it's about breach of trust, targeted retaliation, and lack of internal oversight. Do better, Extra Space Storage. I have receipts, and I won't be silent. — Christina H.

Pure bait and switch pricing, see the image for proof. Lots of move in and junk fees and refused to let me waive the junk insurance so even their web prices really aren't competitive. Door hardware was undersized and cheap, regular locks won't fit and flimsy. Cheap interior wood framing. Moved to a local place where the price was really the price, 50% less than ES upped rates, no junk move in fees, and the unit is better. I should have done more research!

I was told my unit would be $60 and after renting for only 3 months it had jumped up almost double the rate $109 The only reason I rented here was the price. They give you one good price online and then jack up the price after moving your items in. I'm truly disgusted at this tactic!

Every year they raise the rent and I just received notice they are raising the rent fee again and at Thanksgiving/Christmas time. Ruining my holidays. You shouldn't rent from Extra "Cost" Storage if you live on SSI. Management must have changed a couple years ago. The first few years I rented from them they didn't raise the rent. Then all of a sudden now, they are raising the rent at least once a year. The CEO must be new and wants more profit. I now am going to be forced out of renting from Extra "Cost" Storage. They are pricing me out of my storage unit that I've had for over 8 years. It's not right greedy people. It's a kick in the rear end especially at this holiday time of the year. I'm so angry with you greedy people. Now this old 72 year old body aching man has to go to the expenses of moving out of your greedy fingers. I take all of this as an insult and abuse of Senior Citizens. If I move out I will never rent from Extra Space Storage again. Greedy greedy people. I wonder how many people like me will have to move out because of your greediness? It's a big burden on us. A terrible way to do business with people.

I began my rental on August 18,2024. Today is November 11,2024. I just received a notice that my rental rate is increasing to almost double! This place uses bait & switch tactics. Beware!

I am renting unit 414 in Dacula, Ga. This month they raised my monthly rent by $50. This is now $80 a month higher than the rate advertised on their web site. No notice, no explanation, no response to my phone call.

She has been very helpful and answered all the questions that I asked. I would highly recommend this company to my friends and family because of her professional demeanor and skills set

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I signed up with an internet special. After 3 months they more than doubled my rate, telling me there is fine print in the contract that allows them to raise rent at their discretion. They simply have to send you a 30 day notice that they are raising it. They do this taking advantage of the fact all your stuff is moved in and you are forced to deal with rate hike. Super shady tactic. The sales rep Scott should have at minimum been required to mention this, especially since it is such an extreme price increase. Sad that they pedicate their business model to prey on people like this. Come to find out this is something they do on a regular basis to lure and trap customers.

I am so disappointed and disgusted with this company. I put my stuff in storage before temporarily moving across the country to be with my 8-year-old niece who is fighting cancer - needless to say this is a very difficult time. This company advertised a rate and increased it by MORE THAN DOUBLE after a few months. I just looked on the website... storage units that are larger than mine, and on the first floor (more convenient) are cheaper than what they are charging me.

These people are thieves. They say they are veteran owned and turn around and stab you in the back. The veteran discount was pure BS. They gave a quote and we were leary because of the bad reviews, but being a veteran owned company I thought they would have some honor. THEY DO NOT! They are common criminals. We explained EXACTLY what furniture we had. We got our quote and they outsourced the job to another company. They showed up and demanded an extra 1100 dollars. They are scumbag criminals too. They are called Expert Logistics LLC. Avoid them also. I cannot believe a company says they support veterans and are veteran owned, but turn around and fleece you like a common criminal. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

I have had to house my belongings in their facilities in Platte Canyon Colorado for a number of years. Past managers have been wonderful. Within the last year there were changes in management and I was treated in a very unprofessional borderline unethical way. Fortunately, those individuals aren't there anymore and Carl and Elizabeth have been great to work with. It is a lovely site with a beautiful mountain view and is very clean - but they are pricey. They raise their prices after 3 months and periodically. I would have rated them higher if I hadn't had a recent bad experience. Fortunately, they have fixed it.

This business will charge you extra money without notice bring up your rates without notice there is nobody to talk to when you have an issue you are given a fake email to contact. Building is never cleaned bathroom never had toilet paper changed never seen the hallways ever get cleaned place is disgusting. Staff is disgusting and thinks being flirty makes her laziness okay. Do yourself a favor and don't rent here I'd rather pay more money somewhere else than deal with this company there are no carts and when there is one and you try to use it there is such a decline that your belongings will roll away on you. Was told insurance doesn't cover stolen possessions here!

My moved out of extra space storage located at 1900 Windsor Place in Texas USA was a very sad story because I was not in the country. But because you have a heart of human being and with all your managerial ethics, you devoted your time with patience and listen to me and I followed your directions and my things were removed successfully by UPS to the final destination and for that I thank you millions times and I thank extra space for hired a manager who can understand the customers pain in time of emergency needs. Thank again Ms. Roberta stay well and stay blessed.

I got called out of my name. The bottom line is they have no accountability from the sites employees to the site managers and then their district managers. There is no one else to talk to about these managers. They call you once and when you call them back they don't call you back. I requested one free month to be compensated. I didn't don't even get an apology from them. So I'd tell others looking for storage space don't give this here business your business. Thank You

Excellent customer service. This location is super clean, well lit and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and professional, ready to answer all your questions. Thanks to Mr. Kirk for above and beyond help.

The Hebron Carrollton Texas location. I so regrets getting a unit in Texas with this company, customer service Horrible, rates go up every 3 to 4 months and I am renting a closet literally and paying 91.00! Have not been a Year and on 2nd rate increase. Please avoid speaking with Carl at this location! He over talk you and won't let you finish your sentence, then continues Talking while you are Trying to talk! Getting out of there ASAP! Do not! Rent there🙏🏻🙏🏻

The storage unit, at store #1178 is clean with easy access. Most important, the managers Kathleen Grant and Tom Farrel were very professional and helpful. This is the first time I have ever rented a space and Kathleen calmed my anxiety and was very helpful. I will reccomend this storage facility to friends. I feel my property is secure with Extra Storage at this site.
