Najaf Mazari rug maker Najaf Mazari is a rugmaker, storyteller and founder of the Masawat Development Fund. He was detained in the Woomera Detention Centre and spent four years on a temporary protection visa. His wife Hakima and daughter Maria joined him in 2006. Najaf runs a rug shop in Prahran, Melbourne, he is a published author and is fundraising for new facilities in his home village in Afghanistan.
